- KPMG takes top prize in the Islamic finance awards for an unprecedented third year in a row
KPMG was recognized for its outstanding contribution to Islamic Financial Services at the 2013 London Sukuk Summit which was held in London in June. The annual Sukuk Summit Awards recognize institutions which have attained outstanding achievements, success and excellence in their respective categories. This marks the third consecutive year KPMG firms have been awarded this prize, which is unequalled in the assurance and advisory category.
Now in their seventh year, these awards recognise outstanding achievement and excellence in Islamic Financial Services, Sukuk and Islamic Capital Market products. The Sukuk Summit highlighted KPMG member firms active role in promoting and supporting the development of Islamic capital markets and working with regulators around the world to remove obstacles to the growth of the markets.
Jeremy Anderson, global head of KPMG’s Financial Services practice, commented: “I am absolutely delighted KPMG has received this award for a third year in a row. Global capital markets continue to be quite challenging and it is a testament to the quality and breadth of our network that they have been able to help clients work through this.”
Samer Hijazi, Director in KPMG’s Financial Services practice in the UK, added: “Islamic finance is now one of the fastest growing markets in ethical finance and we expect this growth to continue as more investors and issuers start looking at these instruments as genuinely viable alternatives to conventional finance.”
KPMG member firms now have a well established global Islamic finance and investment group, with a network of professionals in 37 countries.
