Advisory Board builds expertise in KPMG’s People Powered Performance practice

KPMG’s People Powered Performance practice (P3) is delighted to announce two senior additions to its team created to provide clients with advice on how to manage staff and boost productivity.

Bringing a combination of private sector and central government experience, the two new appointments will join KPMG’s P3 Client Advisory Board and offer expertise ranging from recruiting and on-boarding senior leadership teams and redesigning HR functions, through to implementing culture change programmes and driving employee engagement initiatives.

Sandy Begbie is the Chief Operations Officer at Standard Life, responsible for the group’s people, IT, procurement and communications functions alongside the Asia and Emerging Market business . He joins the P3 Client Advisory Board alongside this role. Sandy’s main areas of expertise are operating internationally, leading major organisational change, driving performance through a strong commercial approach and growing talent within an organisation. Previous roles included HR positions at Aegon UK and Scottish Power.

Mike Falvey is Corporate Services Director at Four Seasons Health Care with responsibilities which include HR, IT, and communications. He was formerly Director General and Chief People Officer at HMRC where he was responsible for people strategy and organisation design to maximise performance whilst reducing costs.  Previously he was Director General in the Department for Communities and Local Government for HR and Transformation, following roles in the private sector, including SIRVA Inc, where he was responsible for HR in over 40 countries.

Joe Gallagher, vice-chairman at KPMG, says: “As we emerge from one of the toughest economic periods in living memory, organisations across the UK are grappling with the dilemma of how to contain costs and also retain, develop and recruit new talent which is increasingly ’challenging’ in what it expects from its employer. The knowledge and experience that Mike and Sandy bring are a welcome addition to the team and will strengthen our ability to provide strategic insights into the people issues for our clients.”

Both appointments begin with immediate effect.
