Paul Flint and Brian Green from KPMG Restructuring were appointed Joint Administrators of Sandsfield Heat & Power Limited (“Sandsfield”) on 25 June 2012.
Sandsfield owns a biomass power plant located on leasehold premises close to Brandesburton, East Riding of Yorkshire. The plant was designed to generate electricity through the incineration of waste wood.
Paul Flint, associate partner at KPMG and joint administrator, commented: “It was expected that up to 30,000 tonnes of waste wood per year would be incinerated through the plant, generating up to 21,040MWh of electricity to be exported to the National Grid. However, following technical issues with the plant that restricted output, trade ceased at the start of 2012.”
He continued: “Prior to our appointment, the site benefited from planning permission, an environmental agency permit, a fuel supply contract, PPA agreements with customers and access rights. We are now marketing the site for sale, and any interested parties are urged to contact the administrators at KPMG on 0161 246 4000 as soon as possible.”
