- On appointment, the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority (LFEPA) contract with Babcock Critical Services Limited to ensure continuity of service for the London Fire Brigade
Rob Croxen and Richard Fleming of KPMG were today appointed joint administrators of Premier FireServe Limited and Premier FireServe Engineering Limited, the companies which manage and maintain London’s fleet of fire engines.
A contract has been put in place between Babcock Critical Services Limited (a subsidiary of leading engineering support services organisation Babcock International Group Limited) and LFEPA, where Babcock will now manage and maintain the London Fire Brigade vehicles. Babcock Critical Services Limited have signed an 18 month interim contract with LFEPA thus protecting emergency services. During the contract, LFEPA will be running a full competition for the services.
Premier FireServe Limited and Premier FireServe Engineering Limited, which were previously called AssetCo London Limited and AssetCo Engineering Limited respectively, were purchased by AB & A Investments Limited in August this year.
Rob Croxen, joint administrator and partner at KPMG, commented: “Deteriorating service levels from Premier FireServe Limited and Premier FireServe Engineering Limited, coupled with an unauthorised change of ownership, resulted in LFEPA exercising its contractual options and cancelling their contract, which has led to the appointment of administrators.
“Our appointment has allowed for the stable transfer of operations to a new provider. It is business as usual for the London Fire Brigade, and jobs will be transferred with the contracts. LFEPA and Babcock Critical Services Limited have worked with us to ensure this critical public service continues uninterrupted.”
