Administrators appointed to New Career Skills Limited

Allan Graham and Jane Moriarty from KPMG’s restructuring practice were appointed Joint Administrators to New Career Skills Limited, a provider of ‘career-change’ plumbing and electrical courses, on 28th November 2013.

The Hastings-based company provides training through a combination of home study and practical training carried out at three centres in Doncaster, Southampton and Watford. Upon appointment, the Southampton training centre has been closed with immediate effect, and 54 of the 83 members of staff employed across the company have been made redundant.

The company is currently engaged with more than 1,500 students. Training will continue to be provided to all students, including those based at Southampton who will receive training through alternative means.

Commenting on the appointment, Allan Graham, partner at KPMG and joint administrator, said: “In recent months, the company has suffered from a substantial deterioration in its finances, which prompted the directors to appoint administrators. While we assess the options for the business, it is our intention to continue to provide training to those students who are already engaged on learning programmes.”

Notes to Editors:

Staff redundancies are broken down by site as follows:
