Administrators Appointed to Discover Leisure Plc & Signlease Limited

UK caravan and motorhome retailer, Discover Leisure Plc, and its trading subsidiary Signlease Ltd, have today appointed Mark Firmin and Paul Flint of KPMG as joint administrators.

Yorkshire based Discover trades from sites in York, Newbald, Delamere, Chorley, Darlington and Birtley. The administrators are seeking a sale of the business but have closed it in the short term whilst they pursue offers. A number of redundancies are anticipated and will be confirmed in the coming days.  The directors recently sought investment in an attempt to keep the business trading, however, their efforts proved unsuccessful.

Commenting on the appointment, Mark Firmin, KPMG’s Northern head of Restructuring, said: “Discover has faced a difficult market over an extended period of time, with persistently depressed consumer demand for high value discretionary items in particular.  Whilst it is regrettable that we have had to close the dealerships over the weekend, we are working towards a solution to rescue some or all of the business.”

The joint administrators have set up a customer hotline for questions regarding ongoing orders, insurance arranged by Discover, vehicles in for service or repair, or any other queries.  The hotline number - which will become operational from Monday 17th October - is 0845 617 1490.
