KPMG opens its doors to 150 interns over the summer

KPMG welcomes 154 interns from across the UK to join its Vacation Programme this year.  The paid internship scheme, which is designed to let university students in their penultimate year discover more about KPMG and the different types of work the firm undertakes for clients, will run for six to eight weeks during the university summer holidays.

Students will be working at KPMG’s offices up and down the country, and will join one of the firm’s specialist business areas to gain experience on client projects.

Michelle Quest, UK Head of People at KPMG, said:

“KPMG aims to support informed career choices through varied and high-quality internships that are open to all students to apply for.  This underlines our support for the Deputy Prime Minister’s social mobility compact to widen access to business and the professions.

“By using the time to develop new skills and deepen their appreciation of commercial issues, students will be able to use this experience to enhance their skill set and employability.”

Each student will be assigned a senior manager as mentor for the duration of the programme.  The work involved varies from office to office and from team to team, and typically involves being part of a KPMG team working on site at a client’s office, project work or shadowing KPMG staff from different disciplines within the firm.

Michelle Quest said:

“For those students exploring a career in professional services, this is a great way of experiencing at first hand what is involved.  Whether it be audit, tax or advisory services, this programme is designed to allow students to get under the skin of our organisation and test out what a career here could mean for them.”
