Jon's perspective on Data and Systems

Data and systems underpin every aspect of Solvency II: they are crucial to meeting the requirements of Pillars 1, 2 and 3. Our insights show that businesses still have much to do.

Smoother processes means that a business should see more efficient and effective  turnaround of activity; a significant reduction in errors through less manual intervention, and increased automation inevitably means less reliance on people. In turn, this frees up actuarial departments to concentrate on their core strengths, such as in-depth analysis and creating innovative solutions for risk management challenges - rather than manipulating spreadsheets.

Critical to achieving success then, is the insurers' ability to really 'get to grips' with their Solvency II ambitions for data and systems, and have a clear understanding of those objectives across the breadth and depth of the business, domestically and internationally.

What we can offer firms is insights to practical solutions for those challenges. We can help them implement well-defined, operationally effective processes so that functions responsible for data production can provide the numbers needed for Solvency II - accurately, completely and appropriately.
