To commemorate the official launch of KPMG CFO Institute we spoke with key business leaders who shared their views on the challenges they face today and how the role of CFOs have evolved.
Tham Sai Choy Mr Tham Sai Choy, Managing Partner, KPMG LLP

Mr Tham is the Managing Partner of KPMG in Singapore and a member of the KPMG International Board. He has been responsible for the audit of major listed and unlisted companies with operations in various parts of the world. His experience includes work in M&A, judicial management, litigation support and forensic investigations.

In this webcast, Mr Tham shares with us his vision for KPMG CFO Institute and explains how the Institute will promote globally consistent standards for finance skills and improve the cross-border mobility of its industry professionals.

Kuah Boon Wee Mr Kuah Boon Wee, CEO, MTQ Corporation Limited

Mr Kuah is the Group Chief Executive Officer of SGX-listed MTQ Corporation Limited. A UK qualified chartered accountant by training he had served as CEO for South East Asia and Singapore Terminals as well as Group CFO of PSA. Mr Kuah had also served as CFO for Singapore Technologies Engineering, another major listed company on the SGX.

In this webcast, Mr Kuah shares his insights from being a former CFO and now a CEO. He also talks about how he is positioning the finance team as a contributor equally important as other functional teams and how the teams working together will make better integrated business decisions especially when you have operations in cross-border environments.

Robin Ong Mr Robin Ong, Managing Director and CFO, UBS AG Singapore Branch

Mr Ong is the Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer of the Singapore Branch of UBS AG, a position he has held for the last eight years. He is a FCPA (Singapore) and holds a Masters of Business Administration from City University Business School (London). In his current role, Mr Ong overseas a team of more than 100 finance professionals in Singapore.

In this webcast, Mr Ong talks about the challenge in the finance industry to present relevant and timely information to make better informed decisions as well as the need to upskill people even during economic downturns. He also discusses the importance of the partnership between the CEO and CFO.

Mrs Chng Sok Hui, CFO and Executive Committee Member, DBS Group

Mrs Chng is the Chief Financial Officer of DBS Group, and a member of the DBS Executive Committee. Prior to this appointment, she was the Managing Director and Head of Risk Management at DBS Group and held the position for six years. Mrs Chng is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), as well as a Certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM).

In this webcast, Mrs Chng discusses how talent management will contribute to the long term success of the finance industry, and offers insight into the expanding role of the CFO. She also discusses the increasing trend of women into C-suite positions.
