National Critical Infrastructures Protection Seminar 

 

KPMG, in association with Segurança e Defesa magazine, organized the National Critical Infrastructures Protection seminar, that was hold on Champalimaud Foundation on February 28th. The seminar aimed to bring together the State and Companies in the common goal of protecting vital societal sectors’ critical infrastructures, towards the risks and threats of the XXI century.

 

The State plays an important role analysing risks and threats that may affect the Nation and planning the emergency response to face diverse catastrophes such as an earthquake, a terrorist or a cyberspace attack.

 

Public and private Companies from vital sectors, such as Energy, Water, Communications and Transportations, understanding the impact in our society of these threats, if they occur and affect their critical infrastructures, have been developing risk management, security and business continuity mechanisms to increase Resiliency and reduce their critical operations recovery time in case of catastrophe.

 

This seminar aims to provide a privileged opportunity for reflection and current initiatives awareness, discussing strategies and exchanging experiences. For this purpose, the seminar programme included three panels aiming to divulge the role of the State and the initiatives conducted by public and private Companies of four vital sectors: Energy, Water, Communications and Transports.
