KPMG’s presence in Oman was established in 1975 and now consists of more than 100 personnel based in Muscat who serve clients throughout the Sultanate and across all industry sectors.
The practice in Oman is a member firm of KPMG International and a part of the cohesive business unit that serves the Middle East and South Asia (KPMG’s MESA business unit) in response to an environment requiring the resources of a globally aligned organization combined with detailed knowledge of local laws, regulations, markets and competition. The dynamic growth of the practice and its range of clients and services mirrors the successful development and diversification of Oman's economy during a period which has seen it achieve, among other things, the status of a leading liquid natural gas exporter and the development of a major container port.
While Oman’s economy remains significantly dependent on revenues from oil & gas resources, active steps are underway to diversify the economy by developing key non-oil and gas sectors which include tourism, petrochemicals, shipping and ports. As a result, Salalah Port has already established itself as a major, regional container shipping facility.
The competitive response to the challenge of developing and diversifying the range of economic activity is also reaping rewards in the form of a broader range of industrial and consumer products. Significant investments in infrastructure for the transport and leisure and tourism industries are being made as a further stimulus for Oman's economic and business development. KPMG in Oman embodies the value proposition of KPMG’s global member firm network in providing professional services to organizations in both the public and private sectors which rely on KPMG for the integrity of their audit opinion, the provision of sound and valuable business guidance and advice on potential business risks.
