Anna Cahill joined KPMG in March 2008, completed the PCE2 in 2010 and has fulfilled her aim of becoming a CA.

“I have enjoyed the ability to specialise in areas of interest such as farm accounting and have become a Xero expert....I like helping clients around the North Island.”

Anna has enjoyed the training opportunities available to KPMG staff including traveling to Auckland for national training from her Tauranga office, the comprehensive internal training twice a year and lots of support for those completing PCE2.

“I chose KPMG for the national and international opportunities. I am really enjoying the great team environment with lots of events and social occasions like playing social indoor netball with the KPMG team.”

An open and supportive environment

Ngatai Schuster also enjoys the open and supportive environment KPMG offers and is really happy with her choice of firm and career.

“I was made to feel part of the team straight away and my training was made much easier by everyone’s willingness to help whenever I needed it. One of the best things about KPMG is having access to and learning from some highly experienced people with expertise across all areas of accounting.”

“It’s been fun getting to know all the different people I work with and there are plenty of good social events throughout the year to get involved in. And the great thing about Business Advisory is I work with a huge range of clients from small ‘mum and dad’ type businesses to large groups across many different industries.”

When he was going through the graduate recruitment process, Michael Trass looked into all the big accounting firms and found that while they all offer similar products, they are not all equal.

“I found KPMG to have a friendly yet professional vibe, which was clearly shown through the staff throughout the application process. This was one of the main reasons I joined KPMG.”

He admits he didn’t really know what to expect when he started work in his first job out of Uni. “Fortunately there was a graduate induction week where I met everybody else who was starting that year across all departments. This was really helpful because they were all in the same situation as me and meant we all made good connections and friendships with people we would be working with.”

Face to face with clients

Like Ngatai and Anna, Michael enjoys the varied challenges working in Business Advisory brings. “We work with SME size clients and get to have a lot of client contact. We offer a wide range of services to our clients, spanning Audit, Tax and Advisory work. As a Graduate I really appreciated being able to be out there dealing with clients face-to-face and add value to their business.”
