Corporate Governance and The New SEC Code 

The new SEC Code addresses certain contemporary issues, and aims to promote good corporate governance in public companies in Nigeria. However, it also has practical implications and challenges for boards, directors, management, assurance providers and stakeholders.

 

In ths Newsletter, we provide an interpretative overview of the significant changes introducd by the new code of corporate governance issued by the Securities & exchange Commission ("SEC Code" or "the Code"). COmpared to the last SEC Code developed in 2003, the new SEC Code contains comprehnsive provisions in many areas, whish have far-reaching implications for boards, directors, management, assurance providers and stakeholders.
