Well it’s a great pleasure to be here again this morning to introduce this KPMG seminar on the eGaming business. It is the fastest growing sector within the Isle of Man economy, in 2009/2010 it grew by 40% and the last year we believe it has grown by a further 24%.
Russell Kelly
The industry both globally and locally continues to grow, continues to prosper and continues to be very innovative.
Warwick Barlett
It’s still a vibrant industry. It still has a great deal going for it. Technology is assisting the industry and so the growth story is still very much in play.
Russell Kelly
We have over 180 attendees today from a very broad cross-section of the e-gaming industry on the Isle of Man. We have operators, software providers, payments and service providers, CSP, banks, lawyers and accountants. So a very broad church from the sector today.
Archie Watt
I’m very pleased to see we have so much interest shown locally on the island. Here I think we have an island showing its interest, dedication and commitment to ensuring the e-gaming sector is well supported, well run and well organised here on island and we can show that to the world how strong we are.
Garth Kimber
I’d like to thank KPMG for putting on the conference today. It was a great event last year and I’m hoping that this year is going to be just as good. We’ve got a lot to talk about. It’s been a big year of change for us and it’s an even bigger year of change coming up next year.
Clive Hawkswood
It’s a crucial time for the gambling industry. Not just in the Isle of Man but in Europe generally and further beyond that. But certainly the Isle of Man is a key jurisdiction for us and will be for the foreseeable future. Conferences like this are hugely important and puts the Isle of Man on the map and is a window for the rest of the industry to see what’s going on here.
Steve Brennan
The number of license holders on the Isle of Man has increased from 22 to 38 over the past 12 months and we have another 10 licence holders who are due to go live in the next couple of months. The European landscape is changing. We have seen restrictive practices in the past introduced by jurisdictions but we are seeing a more liberalised approach coming through now. I’d like to thank KPMG for giving the Gambling Commission the opportunity to speak at this function. We are very pleased to support this each year.
Warwick Barlett
I’d like to thank KPMG for inviting me to speak today and for organising this. It is a very good thing that the entire e-gaming industry on the Isle of Man can get together and network.
