New Managing Partner for KPMG

2 December 2012

The Managing Partner of KPMG, Terence O’Rourke, has announced the election of his successor Shaun Murphy who will take up his new role as Managing Partner in May 2013.

During O’Rourke’s successful six-year leadership term, KPMG increased revenues by over 16% and employee numbers from 1600 to over 1900 - reflecting the firm’s very strong performance in a time of unprecedented economic challenges.

Shaun Murphy was elected partner in 1999 and has worked with major clients across a range of industry sectors. Shaun has particularly specialised in the Irish headquartered plc, Consumer & Industrial and the privately owned Irish Business sectors and has played a key role in the development of KPMG’s tax practice.

Commenting on his successor, Terence said ‘I would like to congratulate Shaun on his election. Shaun has the experience, expertise and the personal qualities to successfully lead the outstanding professionals in KPMG. At a time of significant challenge for the economy, he, together with KPMG’s partners is committed to building on the firm’s strengths and to providing world class service to our clients. I look forward to working closely with Shaun over the next five months to provide for a seamless transition’.

Speaking after his election as Managing Partner, Shaun said ‘Terence has very successfully led KPMG through a period of huge change for the Irish economy whilst strengthening our market position. The skills and commitment of our people are fundamental to our success and I look forward to working with all my colleagues in further enhancing the market leading services we provide to our clients.’

L-R: Terence O’Rourke (Managing Partner, KPMG), Shaun Murphy (Managing Partner Elect, KPMG)
