KPMG Alumni Annual Dinner 2013

The KPMG Alumni Dinner 2013 in support of The Gathering Ireland took place on Friday, 8 March at the Convention Centre in Dublin. The evening was a special occasion as many of our alumni from overseas made the trip back to Ireland to join former colleagues and friends for the evening.

With over 700 people in attendance this was our biggest alumni ‘gathering’ on record. The atmosphere throughout the evening highlighted the value our alumni put on catching up and  in many cases, renewing connections that had faded over the years.

Before dinner, Terence O’Rourke (Managing Partner, KPMG in Ireland) welcomed guests and spoke about how KPMG will continue, with the help of our alumni, to contribute significantly to the Taoiseach’s ambition of Ireland being recognised as the “best little country in the world” to do business.

Terence, whose role as Managing Partner concludes shortly, welcomed Shaun Murphy, currently Head of Tax at KPMG in Ireland, who will succeed him as Managing Partner on May 1. Terence spoke of how he had enjoyed the past six years as Managing Partner and in particular, his engagement with the alumni group in terms of fostering and supporting a “strong network of great people”.

Shaun Murphy spoke about his optimism for the future and also thanked Terence for his outstanding leadership throughout one of the most interesting periods in the firm's and in indeed the country's history.

The nominated charities for this year’s raffle were The Coolmine Therapeutic Community and the ARC Cancer Support Centre. True to form, our guests were extremely generous with over €18,000 raised for these well deserving causes. As ever, we are most grateful to everyone who contributed on the evening.

After dinner, the lights dimmed and guests were treated to a magical performance by the Irish choir, Anúna.

The formal proceedings drew to a close once Terence completed the raffle draw. Our congratulations to Michael Flaherty who won 1st prize - a night for two at The Europe hotel & resort. James Fitzsimons and Gerry Fahey were the lucky winners of the remaining raffle prizes.

Thank you to our alumni for travelling from near and far and for making this occasion truly memorable. We look forward to further strengthening our alumni connections at home and abroad.

Special thanks also, to the staff at the CCD, Anúna and Orla from Ark Photography.
