The Cork Alumni Annual Drinks and Canapés event on 8 October 2010 proved to be another popular event in the Alumni calendar.
Colin O’Brien commenced the evening by welcoming everyone and introducing Terence O’Rourke, managing partner at KPMG in Ireland. Terence spoke about the tough challenges of 2009/2010 but also his hope for a brighter 2011. He announced, in recognition of Frank Collins’ recent retirement, that the alumni were honouring Frank with a presentation. Frank joined Stokes Kennedy Crowley in 1973, having graduated from UCC. On qualifying as a chartered accountant, he joined the tax department where he continued to work until his retirement. Sean Burke (KPMG Alumni who shared an office with Frank for many years) acted as MC on behalf of the alumni. Speeches from alumni members Padraic Liston and Noel Holland followed. They recounted many nostalgic and humourous stories about Frank.
A tremendous night was enjoyed by over 150 attendees. The reminiscing and laughter continued late into the night as many alumni enjoyed the opportunity to share stories about their time at KPMG.
