2014 Mining Indaba

KPMG participates in Mining IndabaTM

South Africa’s premier mining event, Mining Indaba, took place in Cape Town, South Africa, on 3-6 February 2014.

KPMG had an on-the-ground presence at Mining Indaba, allowing participants to have first-hand conversations with a number of KPMG Global Mining professionals.

KPMG invited Mining Indaba delegates to participate in a stimulating and thought provoking panelist discussion entitled:

Collaborating towards a shared vision for change”.

The purpose of the workshop was to discuss what a shared vision for the South African mining industry should look like, what impediments exist as well as to explore what needs to be done to achieve this vision. There are multi-stakeholder efforts currently underway, many of which are intended to promote action through dialogue. Yet, a key factor impeding progress in these discussions is often the lack of a shared under-standing amongst different stakeholders and a common fact base and language upon which to build trust. The workshop will also aim to bridge some of these impediments.

Panelists invited to collaborate in this session included senior representatives from Government, the ruling party, labour unions, fund managers, independents, communities and mining houses.

We encourage you to download the Mining Indaba app for our current thought leadership for iTunes and Android.
