Thomas Piquemal, 44 years old, is Senior Executive Vice President in charge of finances of EDF Group; he is also responsible for EDF Group North American operations and a member of the Group Executive Committee.
Thomas began his professional career at the auditing firm Arthur Andersen in 1991 where he specialized in restructuring.
In 1995, he joined Lazard-Frères Bank as an analyst in the M&A department and was appointed Partner 5 years afterwards at the age of 31. In 2008, Bruce Wasserstein asked him to steer the development of a London based joint-venture between Lazard and Apollo, the US investment
In January 2009, Henri Proglio, then Chairman and CEO of Veolia Environment, offered him to join Veolia as the Group CFO. This created an opportunity for Thomas Piquemal, who had been advising Veolia for several years at Lazard, to be involved in the management of a large international company.
Thomas Piquemal then followed Henri Proglio when he was appointed Chairman and CEO of EDF Group. As Group CFO since February 2010, Thomas’ responsibilities include financial controlling, Investor Relations, Corporate Finance, Investment and M&A but also purchasing, synergies deployment and property management. Since 2010, Thomas Piquemal has worked steadily on supporting the Group development and strategic initiatives through the deployment of an adequate investment and financing policy and by taking an active role in the major negotiations involving EDF in Germany, Italy, the US and in the renewable industry.
Thomas Piquemal is Vice-Chairman of RTE Supervisory Board, Chairman of the Audit Committee of Edison, a board member of EDF Energy, EDF Energies Nouvelles, ERDF as well as of Dalkia. Thomas Piquemal is also a board member of Fimalac, the listed company co-owner of Fitch ratings.
Thomas is an active speaker in international conferences, such as in 2013 at the BoAo forum in China where he was a Panelist and the Wall Street CFO meeting where he will co-chair the next event in Washington DC.
In 2008, Thomas founded together with Christophe Tiozzo, a three-time world boxing champion "Académie Christophe Tiozzo", with the view of fostering social integration of young people from underprivileged neighborhoods, by leveraging the values of boxing. Thomas Piquemal is now Honorary Chairman of this charity, which trains 2 000 youngsters in 20 clubs and benefits from the support of 40 corporates (www.lacademie.org).
