Klaus joined KPMG in 1993 and was elected to the partnership in 2001. After spending three years as partner in the financial services advisory practice, he transferred to the audit financial services practice, where he held several lead partner roles. Klaus was elected to the Management Board of KPMG Germany in 2006.
Klaus has 20 years experience in auditing and consulting, especially in the financial services industry. In 2011, he became Chief Executive Officer of KPMG Germany; prior to that he was Chief Operating Officer for KPMG Germany (2010 - 2011) and Co-Head of Audit (2007 – 2010).
Furthermore, he held the position of Head of Financial Services from 2007 to 2012. He serves as client relationship board member for major clients in all economic sectors. Klaus also serves as a member of the supervisory board and the banks working group of the IDW (Institut der Wirtschaftsprüfer). Furthermore he lectures at the University of Mannheim, Chair of Accounting and Auditing.
Klaus has extensive experience in the strategic support of DAX-30 companies and financial services clients.
He has extensive knowledge in the audit of annual and consolidated financial statements according to national and international accounting principles, as well as in accounting advisory services with focus on IFRS conversions, process design, risk management and risk controlling.
