Glenn R. George, PhD is a Principal (partner) with KPMG’s US member firm, based in Philadelphia, and is co-head of KPMG’s US Economics & Regulation practice. He has 28 years of experience in the global energy sector as an engineer, policymaker, entrepreneur, investment banker, economic consultant, and expert witness. His areas of specialization include power market design, regulatory strategy, valuation, asset securitization, risk assessment, energy efficiency, renewables, and nuclear power. His consulting and dispute-related work addresses transactions, regulatory issues, and complex commercial litigation, especially involving construction, sale, valuation, licensing, and operation of power plants, grid and natural gas facilities, and other infrastructure.
Dr George applies interdisciplinary approaches to formulating and implementing public policy, managing and consulting to organizations, developing deep industry insight, and helping resolve disputes. He has consulted in a variety of industries, including financial services, natural gas, petroleum, chemicals, transportation, renewable resources, and power generation, transmission, and distribution. He has worked extensively in the USA, Canada, the EU, and East Asia. His client and other relationships include corporations, government agencies, regulators, public utilities, and nonprofit organizations—among them the US Departments of Energy, Justice, Defense, and the Treasury; the governments of Japan, the Bahamas, Canada, the UK, and Lithuania; most major utilities in the USA, EU, and Japan; most Japanese trading companies and heavy equipment vendors; several major private equity firms and banks; and a number of law firms.
Dr George holds an engineering degree and MBA from Cornell University and the PhD from Harvard University. He is a former officer and nuclear engineer in the US Navy and former co-head of the Energy Capital Markets division at Nomura Securities.
