Bernhard Fischer was born 1955 in Barsinghausen, Germany. After studying mechanical engineering he worked between 1982 and 2002 for energy companies like PreussenElektra and E.ON Kraftwerke GmbH in different plant related position, for example as plant manager and, in the end, Board member of German based E.ON Kraftwerke.
2005 Dr. Fischer joined the board of E.ON Energie AG, Munich, being responsible for the generation business. Since 2010 Dr. Fischer serves as CEO of the Generation Board in E.ONs Global Unit Generation.
The Global Unit Generation of E.ON, is headquartered in Hanover, Germany. Currently it operates about 370 Steam, Gas-CCGT, Hydro and Nuclear power plant units throughout Europe at around 300 locations with a total generation capacity of over 60 GW. With major generation locations in Germany, UK, Sweden, Italy, Spain, France and Benelux the unit is one of the most widely distributed power generators in Europe.
