KPMG’s 2nd Latin America Energy and Natural Resources Conference

In November 2013, in Rio de Janeiro, nearly 250 industry leaders convened at KPMG’s 2nd Latin America Energy and Natural Resources Conference representing 116 companies and hailing from all corners of the region.

The event showcased the successful launch of the KPMG LATAM Energy Institute, allowing continued discussions and debates on the key issues faced by the ENR Industry in the region through various platforms including webcasts, conference and industry thought leadership. This conference continues to be an important vehicle to strengthen dialogue among key industry executives and a forum to generate solutions to meet the challenges facing the industry.

About the Keynote Presentations/Sector Panels:

We had the honour of hosting as our keynote speaker, Magda Chambriard, the Director General of the ANP, who shared her point of view of the perspectives in the Oil & Gas sector in Brazil. We also held a lively debate in the general assembly on “Infrastructure and Logistics – How to overcome bottlenecks in ENR sector growth”

After that, participants were invited to participate in one of three panel options:

  • Oil & Gas – Challenges to production capacity growth and impact of the new concessions (in Brazil);
  • Power & Utilities – How to ensure business sustainability of the players in the Electricity sector, and future investments required to the increasing demand of the coming years; and
  • Mining – Operational efficiency and the impact of the new regulatory framework.

The event was then closed by a lively, but poignant presentation by Ricardo Amorim, a well known local journalist and economist, about the current status of the Brazilian economy and future perspectives.

A Portuguese (PDF 1.91MB) and Españhol version of the report is also available for download.
