William's Profile

I joined KPMG in China in February 2004 and spent one year from late 2005 in the U.K. firm’s London office. I returned to the Chinese firm in October 2006 to be a senior Tax manager in the Shanghai office.

People profiles

At first it was difficult to catch up with things on my return – tax had been reformed and we were also swamped with clients. But armed with what I had learnt on secondment I was able to deal with these challenges.

China is now implementing another round of tax reform, and along with the fast-growing economy, this offers the tax professional many opportunities. So far I have to say that my career with KPMG has been smooth and successful. I benefit a lot from KPMG's training system, working environment, and recognition for good performance. I think my prospects are good; in particular I'd like to play a bridging role on tax affairs between China and overseas countries.
