The transition back to China was very simple. With plenty of planning and communication from the admin team, logistical help from HR and help at partner level to re-engage with clients, all I had to do really was spend a few weeks getting used to the culture between the two offices. And my team members were all willing to help.
I really believe I've made the right choice coming back. On a professional level I decided to specialize in financial services with a view to the huge development potential in the Chinese banking industry. This was a bit of a change of focus from my early work and training and I've had the full support of managers and partners all the way in this. And that's really what the rotation to the U.S. firm was about – the chance to get solid experience with a great team in a more mature banking industry and bring that back for the benefit of KPMG and our firm’s clients here in China. Now I have a lead role with a big banking client, as well as broader opportunities such as working with the financial services regulators here.
