Alan's personal focus areas are Strategy Development and Implementation, Market Development and High Growth Markets. Previously, from 2008 to 2011, Alan was global head of KPMG's Advisory practice. He led the rapid growth of KPMG's Advisory practice around the world focusing it into three core business areas: Transactions & Restructuring, Management Consulting and Risk Consulting.


Alan joined KPMG in the UK in 1984 and became a partner in 1993. Alan ran the firm's Financial Management Consulting business from 1996 to1998. Beginning in 1998, he led KPMG's Consulting business in Europe for four years. In that role he transformed the business from consulting to systems integration; merged separate businesses; separated the businesses from the accounting firm and led their sale to Atos Origin and Bearingpoint.


In his range of roles, Alan has worked with Fortune 500 organisations at the board and senior executive level in the UK, US, Far East, Continental Europe, Middle East and Central America.


Alan is Deputy Chairman of the The British Council. He has done pro bono work over the years for a wide range of organisations including: NACRO; The Social Exclusion Unit and Oxford University.
