Ukraine - VAT on software and medicines; customs update 

November 11: Ukraine’s tax authority issued guidance concerning value added tax (VAT), including the following provisions:
  • Supplies of software products—basically, clarifying that the application of the VAT exemption on the supply of software products does not require the company to be registered as a software industry company
  • Refunds of VAT—clarifying the procedure of VAT refunds

  • Amendments to a requirement for sale of part of revenue in foreign currency

Customs update

A new law in Ukraine (passed in September 2013) establishes the customs tariff, and includes a list of rates and import duty on goods imported into the customs territory of Ukraine. The effective date for the law is 1 January 2014.
