Mauritius - Tax provisions in 2014 budget  

November 20: The Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Economic Development on 8 November 2013 delivered the budget speech.

Among the corporate income tax provisions in the 2014 budget are measures concerning:

  • Changes to the basis for calculating the special tax on banks for “segment A activities”
  • Taxation of income from the charter of a foreign vessel
  • Extension of corporate social responsibility levy, as paid by companies, to resident sociétés
  • Extension of the scope of “tax deduction at source” (withholding) for certain consultancy and management services, certain interest payments made by financial institutions, and payment of fees for certain services rendered outside Mauritius
