Hungary - Proposed corporate tax, excise tax, VAT changes 

March 20: Hungary’s outgoing Minister of National Economy submitted a package of tax proposals to the Parliament that, if enacted, would amend the tax law concerning:
  • International assistance rules for tax assessment and collection matters
  • Programs of additional development assistance with respect to team sports sponsored by corporations (requiring such assistance programs for corporate sponsors to be eligible for tax benefits)
  • Changes to the company car tax provisions, pertaining to leases
  • Value added tax (VAT) changes regarding the sale of automobiles subject to input VAT deduction limits
  • Excise tax (or duty) on facilities involved in the cleaning of contaminated products
  • A financial transaction tax measure
  • A new definition of “public service” under the energy tax

There are other tax proposals included in the legislative package.
