El Salvador - Tax reform measures to simplify income tax withholding on wages

January 17:   Provisions passed by the legislative assembly aim to simplify the process for withholding of income tax of wage-earners.

The provisions (Dictamen No. 350), as passed on 14 December 2011, are intended to benefit both taxpayers and the tax administration by reducing administrative costs incurred in the processing and verification of more than 400,000 returns.

The individual income tax rates, contained in Article 151 of the Taxation Code (Código Tributario), are also updated.
