China - New law on entry, exit of foreign workers

August 9:  A new law will control the administration of the entry and exit of individuals from China.  The new rules will be effective beginning 1 July 2013.

The 11th Standing Committee of the National People's Congress passed the new law on 30 June 2012.

The new law integrates sets of prior rules that were introduced in the mid-1980s and the mid-1990s.

With the number of foreign workers entering China increasing each year, the new law is intended to improve the existing system, and to put into place measures to strengthen enforcement of the administration of entry and exit of foreigner workers.
