Latin America - OECD report on tax data, revenue

February 27: The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) published a report―Revenue Statistics in Latin America―providing detailed, internationally comparable data on tax revenues for 18 Latin American and Caribbean economies, two of which are OECD members.

The model for the report is the OECD revenue statistics database. According to the OECD, by extending this OECD methodology to these Latin American and Caribbean countries, the report intends for meaningful cross-country comparisons about tax levels and structures.

The OECD report:

  • Provides an overview of the main taxation tends in Latin America
  • Examines changes in both the level and the composition of taxation, as well as the attribution of tax collection by sub-level of government between 1990 and 2012
