Jordan - Customs duties, sales tax changes 

August 17:  A new customs charge applies in Jordan on previously exempt imported goods.

The customs duty is imposed at a rate of 1% on the value of imported goods, but subject to limits of a fixed minimum and a maximum customs duty fee amount.

Repeal of sales tax on cash transfers

Jordan also eased the application of the sales taxes rules with respect to cash transfers to foreign individuals and on the sale of financing companies.


  • The sales tax on money transfers to individuals outside of Jordan has been repealed.
  • The rate of the general sales tax with respect to sales of financing companies has been reduced to 8%.
