Canada - Update of recent tax treaty, agreement action 

April 10:  Recent actions concerning a tax treaty or tax agreement in Canada reveals:
  • Canada signed a Protocol to amend the income tax treaty with Belgium. The Protocol (signed 1 April 2014) reflects the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) standards for the exchange of tax information.   • A tax information exchange agreement (TIEA) with Bahrain entered into force on 3 April 2014. The TIEA will generally apply to tax periods that begin on or after 13 April 2014, or when there is no tax period, for all charges to tax arising on or after that date.
