Albania - Income tax treaty with UK ratified 

February 12:  An income tax treaty between Albania and the United Kingdom has been ratified by the parliaments of both countries.

The Albania-UK income tax treaty generally follows the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Model Convention and sets out, among other provisions, the following reduced withholding tax rates:

  • 5% on dividends for companies owning at least 25% of the dividend-paying company and 10% for portfolio holdings
  • 6% on interest
  • 0% on royalties

The income tax treaty also contains the latest OECD exchange of information article, an arbitration provision, and an article providing for assistance in the collection of taxes.
