Transformation: Leveraging Technology for Innovation and Growth

The doors closed this week on Oracle OpenWorld 2011, and the successes KPMG fostered at the conference were both tangible and concrete.

From the opening of KPMG’s well-received tradeshow booth on Monday to our final public session on Thursday, KPMG member firm personnel delivered timely messages and exceptional client service interactions.

The overall thinking was clear: KPMG aims to help our current and future member firm clients cut through the complexity of their business challenges by offering practical advice and executable solutions.

“As an Oracle Platinum Partner, our presence at OpenWorld 2011 really harnessed the best of what KPMG has to offer: our talented network and our cutting-edge technology solutions,” said Angela Carter, Principal KPMG LLP (US) and Global Oracle Lead Partner. “I’m proud of what we accomplished at OpenWorld, particularly in demonstrating the value of our service offerings. And I look forward to cultivating the new business relationships we developed this week.”

At OpenWorld, the KPMG team focused its efforts in three main arenas:

  • Leveraging Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) upgrades as a lever for growth and addressing new business requirements

  • Evolving the use of Cloud-based technology, and how this is evolving the role of the CIO

  • Demonstrating how “Big Data” is helping companies find unique insights for growth

Steve Hill, KPMG LLP (US), Vice Chair of Strategic Investments, led a Conference Session, The Cloud: Transformative Ideas for the CIO, Chief Integration Officer, featuring Angela Carter, Global Oracle Lead Partner; Rick Wright, Global Cloud Enablement Leader; and Phillip Lageschulte, Partner – Advisory, all of KPMG LLP (US). The panel discussed how the Cloud is transforming the role of the CIO, recent KPMG International research on Cloud implementations and how the Cloud can help companies accomplish a range of organizational and business strategies.

KPMG’s Executive Solution Session, Can an ERP Upgrade Now Help Transform Your Business? was hosted by Angela Carter, Global Oracle Lead Partner; Mike Costello, Managing Director – Advisory Services, Business Intelligence; Christian Hambach, Senior Manager, IT Advisory Services; and Jeanne Johnson, Global Business Intelligence Lead Principal, all of KPMG LLP (US). They spoke about how KPMG member firms have helped companies develop ERP-enabled transformation roadmaps that link business imperatives, such as global and shared services, Cloud, tax-driven supply chain moves and global accounting changes to their ERP upgrade agendas.

Jeanne Johnson, KPMG LLP (US), Global Business Intelligence Lead Partner, moderated a Conference Session titled, Learn How to Convert the Problems of Big Data into Big Opportunities. Linda Imonti, National Business Intelligence Service Line Leader and Xena Ugrinsky, Principal – Advisory Services, both of KPMG LLP (US), told the audience about how KPMG helps clients cope, compete and capitalize on the value of data to support strategic, as well as tactical and operational decisions.

On the eve of OpenWorld, KPMG announced that it had agreed to acquire Optimum Solutions, an Oracle Platinum Partner and an industry-leading HCM Oracle solution provider, strengthening KPMG’s ability to help clients use technology to transform key operations such as human capital management (HCM), finance and accounting, business intelligence and supply chain management. The Optimum and KPMG teams were positioned side-by-side on the tradeshow floor, demonstrating the first synergy of many more to come.

After such a successful week, KPMG teams are already making plans for informative sessions at Oracle OpenWorld 2012, so stay tuned!
