Weaving together a solid response to climate change

The way to achieve a solid response depends on sure-but-steady steps and a focus on green growth.

In the last few minutes, Christiana Figueres, Executive Secretary to the UNFCCC, has called for countries to "weave together the elements of a solid response to climate change, using both reason and creativity". Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Cancun Climate Change Conference, Ms. Figueres acknowledged that the task "isn't easy, but it is achievable".

 

In the last few days, Yvo de Boer, former UN Executive Secretary to the UNFCCC and now Special Global Advisor on Climate Change and Sustainability to KPMG, the global network of services firms, has said that the way to achieve a solid response depends on sure-but-steady steps and a focus on green growth.
