The global economic downturn has had a major impact on the engineering and construction sector. The fifth annual KPMG Global Construction Survey highlights the key issues confronting the industry and the measures adopted by contractors to adapt to new opportunities identified; these various strategies have enabled these firms to survive the downturn and, in some cases, thrive.  Their resulting outlook—characterized as “cautious optimism” provides insight into this industry and the future prospects.
