Emerging markets - Latin America 

As a region that has had crises of its own making in the recent past, Latin America has found itself well-placed to deal with the current, imported, financial crisis. “There has been some expected contagion to Latin America of the crisis,” says Victor Esquivel, KPMG’s head of private equity for Latin America region (RC). “But it appears to be better prepared than some other regions, especially in countries such as Brazil, Chile and Mexico. Most have healthy fiscal deficits and low external debt.”
