Best Big Company to Work For award
In March 2008, KPMG won ‘Best Big Company to Work For’ in the prestigious Sunday Times Best Companies awards. Described as ‘unparalleled’ by the Sunday Times, it is the second time that KPMG has won the award and the fourth year in a row that it has come in the top three. The Sunday Times Best Companies awards are the biggest survey of workplace opinion in the U.K. and, in 2008, encompassed 868 organizations in total, capturing the views of over 180,000 employees. KPMG topped the ‘Best Big Company’ category for organizations employing more than 5000 people.
KPMG was also very proud to win two further awards — ‘Most Improved’ and ‘Best For Giving Something Back’.
Auditor of the Year
KPMG won the ‘Auditor of the Year’ award in the ‘Big Four’ category at the Real FD/CBI Finance Directors’ Excellence Awards 2008. KPMG won the award jointly with Ernst & Young. This is the fourth year in a row that KPMG has won the award, being the outright winner in 2005-2007. The Awards reflect the views of some 750 finance directors across a range of categories.
The accolade follows on from KPMG winning ‘Audit Team of the Year’ (and ‘Global Firm of the Year’) in November 2007’s Accountancy Age awards.
Financial Times Best Workplaces 2007
KPMG was named one of the U.K.’s top employers in the Financial Times Best Workplaces Awards 2007. KPMG also won a Special Award for commitment to Corporate Responsibility and was runner up in the special Award for Sustainability.

The U.S. member firm was named in Fortune magazine’s 100 Best Companies to Work For list and earned a place in Working Mother magazine’s Top Ten Best Companies. The firm also was ranked number 11 on BusinessWeek magazine’s 50 Best Places to Launch a Career list; ranked number seven on Training magazine’s list of the top 125 training companies; and made the Companies that Care Honor Roll for its commitment to elevating the quality of its work environment.
KPMG was recognized as one of the 150 best companies to work for in Brazil by Exame- Você S/A magazine. The firm also ranked among the 50 best companies to work for as a trainee in São Paulo, Brazil, according to the 2007 CIEE, ABRH, and IBOPE 2nd edition survey.
The Australian member firm in 2007 was ranked seventh in a work/life balance benchmarking study, a significant improvement over the firm’s placement in previous years, due to the introduction of the Family Support for YOU program and a strong commitment to diversity. KPMG also was named an Employer of Choice for Women by the Australian Government’s Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency.
In Ireland, KPMG was voted the number one Employer of Choice by graduates in the inaugural Ireland Graduate Careers Survey. The survey results, which were highlighted in the Irish Times, were based on face-to-face interviews with more than 3000 final-year students at the country’s seven major universities.
In South Africa, KPMG was named the second most Ideal Graduate Employer and the first among the Big Four, in a survey completed by more than 15,000 commerce, science and engineering, and law students from all 23 universities in South Africa.
KPMG in France was recognized as the number one audit and consulting firm by students at the French Business School, the top business school in France. The firm also ranked 10th in the 2007 Universum Graduate Survey for benchmarking talent, attraction, performance and employer brand image, and won an award from the research organization for making the biggest improvement in its ranking year-over-year.
KPMG was named one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers in 2007. The winners were announced in Maclean’s, the country’s largest weekly news magazine.
KPMG in Austria was ranked first on the list of Austria’s Best Internships for 2007. The list is determined by Uniforce, a student organization that acts as a liaison between universities and the economic world.
In Korea, KPMG was named Best Human Resources Developer 2007. The firm was one of only 11 large organizations to receive special recognition out of the 104 organizations that were evaluated, and was noted for its programs designed to foster multidisciplinary capabilities and support global mobility.
