The changes will see the practice — which employs 30,000 professionals in KPMG member firms globally — adopting a new operating model based around re-grouping our current nine service lines into three key service groups of Performance & Technology, Transactions & Restructuring and Risk & Compliance.
These changes will be deployed across KPMG member firms from 1 October, 2009.
Explaining the rationale behind the new operating model, Global Head of Advisory Alan Buckle said:
“Our Advisory practice needs to evolve with the market. Our firms’ clients need rapid assistance in three broad areas: how to improve performance — especially by harnessing technology; how to execute transactions and restructure; and how to handle risk and compliance. Our business will now directly align to these needs.”A global leader has been appointed to each of the three new Service Groups. They are:
- Aidan Brennan will be responsible for Performance & Technology. Aidan currently leads KPMG’s Performance practice in the U.K. firm.
- Simon Collins will lead Transactions & Restructuring. Simon is Head of Corporate Finance in the EMA region (Europe, Middle East & Africa).
- Mike Nolan will take charge of Risk & Compliance. Mike will also lead this group in the Americas region.
Paul Brough will become overall Head of Advisory for the Asia Pacific region; Paul has over 25 years of experience in China and the wider Asia Pacific region and is Senior Partner for KPMG in Hong Kong.
The rest of the Global Advisory leadership remains unchanged, including — Alan Buckle (Global Head of Advisory), Bernd Schmid (Europe), Mark Goodburn (Americas) and John Condon (Chief Operating Officer).
