Bridging the gap between medical and non-medical players
By successfully integrating health providers, pharmaceutical companies, insurance groups and other stakeholders, Sören has shown that it’s possible to improve both margins and quality. He is an advocate of patient-centered care, redesigning processes around patients to reflect the new ‘consumerism.’
After several years in clinical practice, Sören joined a healthcare management consultancy, working on numerous projects within Germany and internationally. He led the restructuring of a large public sector hospital group, reorganized the human resource planning for a German university hospital, and carried out strategic planning for a multinational pharmaceutical company.
As a consultant, Sören has also served clients in the health insurance sector. He supported the merger of two major German players, helped one firm to create an integrated network for the inpatient and outpatient sectors, and implemented a complete healthcare insurance system for an EU country.
Sören also spent time as Regional Director for a private German hospital chain, where he was also CEO and Medical Director of one of the hospital – the Eifelklinik St. Brigida hospital at Artemed Kliniken, where he led the reorganization of the hospital.
After studying medicine at the University of Göttingen and Heidelberg Medical Schools and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, he conducted basic research in tumor immunology and immunogenetics at the German Cancer Research Centre in Heidelberg. Sören completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the University Hospital in Munich and holds a postdoctoral lecturer qualification.
