KPMG’s Member Firms Set to Hire 75,000 Graduates

  •   KPMG to increase hiring targets to support global growth strategy

KPMG’s member firms will hire approximately 75,000 graduates worldwide over the next three years, representing a 25 percent increase in the firm’s historical resourcing target.

The global member firm network has identified a need to hire approximately 250,000 new hires over the next five years and graduate recruitment plays an essential role in meeting the firm’s long term global growth strategy. New hires will be integrated into all of KPMG’s functional areas – Audit, Tax, and Advisory, and Internal Firm Services.

In the UK, KPMG expects to recruit approximately 3,000 graduates and school leavers over the next three years, and around 7,500 new hires over the next five years.

“While KPMG’s firms plan to hire a large number of new graduate employees, it’s important to note that our focus is about more than simply high volumes – it’s about recruiting top talent to drive our growth now and into the future,” said Iain McLaughlin, Head of Recruitment at KPMG in the UK. “To attract the best, we offer new graduates the opportunity to work alongside talented professionals, solving complex client issues and making a difference to some of the world’s most prestigious organizations.”

Rachel Campbell, Global Head of People at KPMG International, commented: “Globalization is increasingly impacting our clients’ world, so ensuring our future leaders have a strong understanding of global business complexities is critical to our business.   Through our global campus recruitment and ongoing talent development programs, KPMG’s network of member firms will be prepared with a workforce to meet our clients’ needs anywhere in the world to drive forward our high performance culture.”

KPMG’s commitment to continuously develop top talent at the graduate level is underpinned over 10,000 national internships offered by its member firms annually. KPMG also offers students global work rotations through its Global Internship Program - the longest running student exchange program offered among the ‘Big 4’ professional services firms.

Once graduates are hired full-time, KPMG’s member firms provide employees access to a number of career development opportunities.  A signature people initiative is KPMG’s Global Opportunities (GO) mobility program that encompasses short or long-term work assignments around the world.  Since its inception in 2007, over 8,000 employees have completed GO assignments or a “Tax Trek” (KPMG’s Tax mobility program for early career tax professionals).

“Globally, we are seeing a revitalized labor market, with students seeking international work experience, which we’re able to deliver on,” said Iain McLaughlin. “The competition for top talent is fierce. To attract the best, we offer programs that place students at the heart of our business to fully develop their global mindset, which will in turn enable them to realize their full potential and help us to deliver on our business goals.”

Proof that KPMG’ commitment to developing young talent resonates with students worldwide is being ranked second in Universum’s 2010 index of the “world’s most attractive employers.”  The ranking also placed KPMG ahead of all the other “Big 4” member firms.
