7:15 a.m. Get up a little early because you are going to visit a client site for the first time. You Map Quest directions and you're on your way.
10:00 a.m. The client, a mid-sized microbrewery, wants to expand its business across Canada and needs your team to come up with an efficient tax structure to accomplish this. You will be working with a team of people from Audit and Advisory on this complex project. One thing you really like about KPMG is the opportunity to be a part of cross-functional teams. It introduces you to new ideas and new ways of thinking, and also allows you to meet some interesting people from across the firm.
12:30 p.m. After lunch, meeting with your team to discuss the project. You discover that two people on your new team play for the KPMG soccer league you were thinking of joining. You spend the last 5 minutes talking Champions' League.
1:45 p.m. Back to the office to check email and complete a one-hour interactive learning module on hedge accounting for income taxes.
3:45 p.m. Time for a conference call with a client to get some final information you need to complete a tax return. Once you have the information you need, you will be able get to work on the return.
5:30 p.m. You're heading out the door when your manager, who knows you love to travel, calls you into her office and tells you to pack your bags - you've been chosen as one of the team members to go on a cross-country trip to Vancouver, Montreal and Halifax to help with the tax work on a due diligence review for a prospective takeover.
