Tammy joined KPMG after graduating from Wilfrid Laurier University and is currently practicing in the Consumer Markets audit group. Tammy has worked on several clients across both the industrial and consumer markets practices.
Tammy has always been actively involved in the HR aspect of her audit groups and is now the Develop Leader for the GTA audit practice. She has also been the lead partner on many cross boarder listed companies managing various global engagements and helping her clients through complex business transactions.
When not at the office, Tammy can be found at her home north of Toronto enjoying operating large pieces of landscaping machinery or relaxing by the fire pit with friends and family.
Derek Peters

Derek joined KPMG in September 1994 after graduating from the Honours Economics program at Wilfrid Laurier University and later obtained his CA designation in 1997. Derek originally joined the North Toronto office and serviced clients across many industries, including technology, manufacturing and resources. He has now specialized in the mining industry and works with many developing, internationally diverse companies.
Derek has held many different roles during his career at KPMG – HR Partner, Canadian Securities Partner, Laurier Campus Recruiting Partner, to name a few. Derek also had the opportunity to participate in an international secondment while at the Partner level. He spent 2 years with KPMG Australia living in Melbourne as a member of KPMG Australia’s department of professional practice and supported some of KPMG Australia’s largest clients.
Derek sits on the Advisory Board of the Toronto chapter of Cystic Fibrosis Canada providing financial advice and support in their many fundraising events. Outside of work Derek is a struggling mid-handicapper, but undeterred golfer. He also enjoys skiing and beer league hockey.
Daniel Millett

Daniel is an Audit Senior Manager in our Financial Institutions and Real Estate group. He joined KPMG in 2006. Since joining KPMG, he has worked on various clients with his main clients being in the Building, Construction and Real Estate sectors. Daniel has experience working on mutual funds, securitization arms of major banks, private equity firms, and equity asset managers, but most recently has been focusing on International Construction Firms, Public REITs and other private real estate clients. Dan has also had the opportunity work on some special engagements included compilations, due diligences, initial public offerings and specified procedure jobs.
Dan has been actively involved in various activities since joining KPMG, including the UFE Committee, being actively involved in recruiting, and acting as a Performance Counselor.
His most memorable moment since joining KPMG was passing the UFE and the excitement and firm celebration that followed.
Outside of work, Dan enjoys playing sports including tennis, golf, hockey, and baseball.
Kathleen Buzek, CA

Kathleen Buzek joined the KPMG Enterprise Audit practice as a co-op student from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2005 and worked for three co-op terms before returning full time to Enterprise in November 2007. She performed audits in a variety of industries within the private sector, including manufacturing, retail and real estate before specializing in not-for-profits.
Kathleen spent many years been involved with the UFE program after passing her exams in 2008. She acted as a UFE mentor to two writers in 2009, providing them support and encouragement throughout the process. In 2010 she took on the role of UFE coordinator and helped run the UFE program in the Enterprise group, stepping down in 2012.
Kathleen has also been an active member of the Enterprise group social committee since 2008. She has helped plan many events including golf days, wine tasting excursions, attendance at Blue Jays games and scavenger hunts around the city.
Beginning in 2011, Kathleen joined the WIN@Leadership committee whose objective is to foster relationships between KPMG women across the firm. This role has provided the opportunity to attend several interesting networking events, including cooking classes and golf lessons, and to meet a variety of women throughout the firm.
In her spare time, Kathleen enjoys staying active and in currently a member of a KPMG beach volleyball team and dragon boat team.

Jonathan Ng joined KPMG in 2007 after obtaining his Honours Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University. Jonathan worked two years in the North York office with the Energy, Mining and Industrial Markets group prior to transferring downtown to the Consumer Markets industry group. Jonathan’s primary clients are in the electronics, transportation, restaurant and foodservice industries.
While at KPMG, Jonathan has been actively involved with campus recruiting, the UFE mentorship program and playing on several sports teams. He has travelled throughout North American on multiple on client engagements and had the opportunity to attend a pilot training course in Miami, Florida with other KPMG associates from the United States and South America.
Outside of work, Jonathan is actively involved in sports, both from the playing and coaching side. In his free time he enjoys watching movies, listening to music, reading and travelling.

Alex Cole joined the KPMG team In October of 2011, in the Enterprise Audit Practice. Alex graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2010 from the BBA program. So far he has enjoyed a breadth of private companies ranging from small to international, in industries including manufacturing, retail, real estate, and non-for profit.
Alex was instantly drawn to recruiting, joining the Laurier team shortly after being hired. He enjoys his visits back to campus, and reminiscing of the glory days. Alex takes great satisfaction of helping students through the challenging and exciting process of transitioning from studies to their career. Alex is also a mentor of two bright summer interns in KPMG audit.
When not a work, Alex can be found grinding it out on the golf course. He also plays hockey, basketball, loves to ski, and is a volunteer at Camp Ooch. If he had not chosen a corporate path, he would be a ski-bum out west.

Jeff Davie joined the KPMG team as a full-time member in September, 2011 with the Energy, Mining and Industrials (EMI) Audit practice, where he specializes in working with mining, automotive, and energy clientele. Jeff graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2010 with an Honours Bachelor Administration – Co-op degree.
Since starting with KPMG, Jeff has been involved with recruiting as a member of the Wilfrid Laurier Campus Recruiting team. Since Jeff completed his exams before starting with KPMG, he has had the opportunity to be involved in the KPMG UFE mentoring program as a mentor to a 2012 UFE writer. Also, during his time at KPMG, Jeff volunteered for the Madison Classic Hockey Tournament raising over $500 to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada.
Outside of work, Jeff enjoys playing sports including; hockey, soccer, and golf. Jeff also enjoys traveling, cottage-ing and reading.

Laird joined KPMG in 2005 after obtaining his Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University. Laird began his career with KPMG in the Waterloo Audit practice working on clients in various industry groups including Consumer Markets and Energy and Natural Resources. Laird obtained his Chartered Accountancy (CA) designation in 2008.
In the summer of 2008, Laird participated in a four month secondment to Johannesburg as part of a short term exchange program with KPMG South Africa. Laird recently returned from a 36 month secondment to KPMG Amsterdam as part of the Global Opportunities program where he travelled extensively across Europe and Asia for clients gaining knowledge of IFRS.
While working with KPMG Canada, Laird has been involved with recruiting and most recently transitioned to the Talent Attraction Team as Manager of Campus Recruiting. Laird also maintains a client portfolio in the Enterprise practice with a focus on real estate. In his personal time Laird enjoys skiing, swimming and travelling.

Stephen Novalski joined KPMG in 2005 after obtaining his BBA from the Schulich School of Business. Stephen began his career with KPMG in the Financial Institutions and Real Estate (FIRE) Audit practice, where he gained experience working with a wide variety of clients and industries including banks, real estate and construction companies.
In 2008, Stephen obtained his Chartered Accountant (CA) designation and that same year accepted a secondment into KPMG’s National Campus Recruiting team providing support for offices from coast to coast. This secondment led to a permanent move into Talent Attraction where Stephen joined as a Manager on the Employer Branding team. In over two years in this role, Stephen was responsible for designing and developing national campus recruiting programs including the Ace the Case Competition and Fast Forward Leadership Conference among many others.
Since 2011, Stephen has been in the role of Talent Attraction Manager for GTA Campus Recruiting and has enjoyed the new challenge of being more involved on campuses and in the recruiting efforts of the GTA offices.

Mary Freitas joined the KPMG team in October 2010 after completing her Honours Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University. Mary began her career in the Toronto Audit practice as part of the Financial Institutions audit group where she has worked on clients in various industries including banking, broker/dealers, and funds. She has also had the opportunity to work in several of KPMG’s other groups including energy, mining, and private clients.
Mary wrote and passed the UFE in September 2011 and is acting as a UFE mentor for one of this year’s writers through KPMG’s Study Buddy program as well as a marker for KPMG’s internal marking pool. While working with KPMG, Mary has been actively involved with recruiting and has most recently accepted a short-term secondment in Campus Recruiting as a Talent Attraction Specialist.
Outside of work, Mary enjoys baking, reading, and travelling to new places.

Pankita Patel joined the KPMG team as a summer intern in 2007 and started full-time in September 2008 with the Enterprise Audit practice, where she specialized in working with non-for-profit organizations and municipalities. Pankita graduated from York University in 2008 with a BBA from the Schulich School of Business. Pankita has worked with a variety of non-for-profit organizations, municipalities, and real estate companies since joining the firm.
Pankita has been actively involved in recruiting since joining KPMG as a summer intern where she was a campus ambassador and after two years in the audit practice in September 2010 Pankita took on a new role in the Talent Attraction Group as a Talent Attraction Specialist, Campus Recruiting.
Since beginning her career at KPMG, Pankita has had the opportunity to be involved with the UFE process through KPMG’s Study Buddy program, allowing her to mentor CA students through their CA exams as well as being a professional marker and seminar leader for the SOA since passing the UFE in 2009. For the past three years, Pankita has also had the opportunity to give back to her university through being a TA at Schulich School of Business for first and third year students. Through this opportunity, Pankita has been able to keep her passion of teaching and be an active member of the Schulich alumni. Recently in 2012, Pankita joined the Ontario UFE group’s internal marking centre and has been actively involved in facilitating CKE and SOA technical sessions.
Pankita is an active participant in KPMG’s community initiatives as a key member on the Free the Children steering committee who works to raise internal firm awareness and organize events in support of the organization. In 2012, Pankita took on a new role as the Team Champion for the Talent Attraction Group to support the KPMG GTA World Partnership Walk Team. Outside of work, Pankita enjoys hot yoga, travelling, and baking.

Rory MacPherson joined KPMG’s campus recruiting team in March of 2012. Prior to KPMG Rory worked in campus recruiting for a global reinsurance firm where he assisted in recruiting actuarial science students. Rory’s interest in campus recruiting began while working in Vancouver, BC for one of Canada’s Big 5 Banks, and decided to move to Toronto for an opportunity to gain experience in the industry. Rory’s main goal since joining the GTA team is striving to provide all campus candidates with the best possible recruitment experience.
Despite Rory being new to KPMG, he has enjoyed getting involved with local campus events and planning activities for KPMG’s interns and co-ops. Rory’s most memorable moment so far has been attending a community leadership workshop that Free the Children facilitated for the KPMG 2012 Summer Interns.
In his spare time Rory enjoys traveling, cycling, volunteering, and learning how to cook.

Mary Jo “MJ” joined Thorne Riddell (later becoming KPMG) in September 1988 after completing the MAcc program at the University of Waterloo. Mary Jo started with KPMG as an auditing student in the KPMG Enterprise practice, where she remains today as the Partner-in-Charge of the Waterloo office’s KPMG Enterprise group.
While at KPMG, Mary Jo has spent time as a facilitator for various audit training programs and as a part-time instructor at Wilfrid Laurier University’s School of Business and Economics. Mary Jo has held numerous board of director positions in various organizations and enjoys giving back to the community in this capacity.
Mary Jo's current focus is privately held businesses in the Consumer Markets sector. She has travelled a great deal throughout Canada, the US, and Europe. Mary Jo enjoys figure skating, cycling, and golf.

Julia Beniusis joined KPMG and the Talent Attraction team in January 2011, overseeing campus recruitment for the firm’s Regions East offices. Prior to joining KPMG, Julia held recruitment roles at the University of Guelph and, more recently, with the Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games in Vancouver. Julia holds a Bachelor of Commerce, Human Resources Management Degree, and is a board member with the Hamilton Chapter of the Human Resources Professional Association (HRPA).
Outside of work, Julia can be found enjoying her many favourite active pursuits, including running, yoga, snowboarding, and golf.
