Murray Hitchcock

Murray Hitchcock

This summer Murray had the opportunity to rotate through KPMG’s Audit, Tax-IES, and Marketing divisions. While not at work, Murray enjoys playing center for his summer hockey league team, staying fit at the gym, listening to music, or just kicking back and playing video games. He is an all-around sports enthusiast who loves to follow and play a variety of different sports both casually and competitively.

Murray’s favorite memory from his summer internship was spending time with and personally getting to know the other summer interns at KPMG.

“KPMG is my perfect fit because it gives me the opportunity to learn and grow as an individual in a supportive, fun, professional environment.”

Kevin Jensen

Kevin will be working in KPMG’s audit, advisory, tax, enterprise, and SVP areas. He looks forward to the challenges and opportunities that he will encounter with the firm on the road to achieving his career goals. Apart from work he is an avid hockey fan, as well as being a goaltender for over 17 years. Kevin enjoys spending time with friends and family in his down time, taking as many trips to the Rockies as possible to camp during the summer, or to ski during the winter. He is excited to be a part of the diverse team that consistently strives for excellence here at KPMG. After the conclusion of his summer term he will be returning to the University of Calgary to complete the final year of his Bachelor of Commerce degree.

“KPMG is my perfect fit because of its culture and support that assist me in reaching my career aspirations.”

Jaylene Kostyniuk

Jaylene Kostyniuk

Jaylene will be working the ranks of tax and audit this summer. Last summer, she worked the social venture partners, audit, and marketing rotation. She believes KPMG makes a great employer because KPMG is flexible and backs up your personal goals. Jaylene is looking forward to auditing at the Stampede because she loves the Stampede and cherry lemonades.

Her favourite memory is yet to come because she has recently joined the summer interns after returning from a semester abroad in South Africa. She is proud of her ability to click and speak some Zulu. When she is not at KPMG, you can find her bike riding or drinking chai lattes.

KPMG is my perfect fit because the culture allows you to enjoy life both inside and outside KPMG. The people I have met at KPMG really challenge the ‘typical accountant stereotype’. I look forward to further challenging the stereotype over the next couple of years.

Karleigh is going into her fourth year at the University of Calgary. She is originally from Cranbrook, BC and misses the mountains all the time.

“KPMG is my perfect fit because it allows me to grow as an individual and gives me the flexibility I need to have a good work life balance.”

Jaspreet is looking forward to the rotations to experience the different aspects of KPMG’s business while applying what she learned in school. In addition, Jaspreet will be auditing the Calgary Stampede, an opportunity which she is looking forward to! Outside of work, Jaspreet is involved in extracurricular clubs at the University of Calgary and competes in various case competitions. Carolyn Parker

Carolyn is a first-time summer student at KPMG. She is excited to have the opportunity to work in several areas of the business over the 2012 summer, including Advisory-Valuations, Tax-IES and Oil and Gas Audit. Carolyn appreciates the experiential learning environment that KPMG offers, knowing that it will help her to solidify her understanding of accounting concepts; this will be particularly helpful as she enters her final semester of her Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Calgary in fall 2012.

Carolyn is active in her community and school, involving herself in clubs at U of C and volunteering locally and internationally throughout the year. She is also entering her second year as Team Alberta’s Sponsorship Lead for the Solar Decathlon project. In her spare time, Carolyn enjoys playing the violin and running.

Trinh Pham

Trinh Pham

Throughout the summer Trinh had an opportunity to rotate through the Audit, Tax, and Enterprise departments, as well as a week with the Social Venture Partners program. While not having a blast at work she spends her time with her two dogs out and about. She loves eating food, but not so much the cooking part.

The best memories of her summer are all the times she spent with the other summer interns causing mayhem and bringing some new life into the office.

“KPMG is a perfect fit for me because although we work hard, we know how to have some good laughs as well.”

Connor Riffel

Connor Riffel

Connor will begin his work term in the Indirect Tax department followed by Assurance and Enterprise.  He will also be involved in the Stampede Audit, volunteering in a Social Venture Partners rotation, and organizing an ultimate frisbee sporting event between the other major accounting firms.  Outside of his job at KPMG, Connor is an adamant hockey fan and has also been playing for 17 years.  He also enjoys snowboarding in his free time in winter months, as well as golf and softball in the summer.  Originally from Leduc, Alberta, Connor moved to Calgary following the completion of high school in 2009 and is currently pursuing an accounting degree at the University of Calgary.

“The culture and opportunity for experience are the most valuable assets that KPMG provides to foster my future professional development.”

Sergio Terrazas

Sergio Terrazas

Throughout the summer Sergio will be working in KPMG’s advisory, SVP, Enterprise and Audit practices. He is really excited for the learning opportunity that this summer will provide and its future growth potential. Sergio is a huge football and hockey fan, but enjoys watching any sport. Sergio has travelled to Europe and Central America, but would like to continue his travels into South East Asia. He was also born in Mexico and moved to Canada when he was 15 years old. Once his summer term is over he will return to the U of C, in order to finish his final year of school.

“KPMG is a perfect fit, because the people allow for a very comfortable work environment and continued support.”

Gloria Tse

Gloria Tse

Over the summer Gloria had the opportunity to work in the Audit, Tax, and Marketing departments. She also had the privilege to volunteer for one week with Social Venture Partners.  During her time away from work she loves going for coffee with friends and family, and finding new places to eat (little hidden treasures in Calgary)!

Gloria enjoyed her whole summer at KPMG, but her favorite was getting to know all the summer interns.

“KPMG is my perfect fit because it allows me to explore and develop my passion.”
