Kaylee is a student from the University of British Columbia. She started in May 2012 as a summer intern and worked in Industrial Markets with a rotation in audit. She also finished her summer working in Human Resources.
During the day at KPMG, Kaylee enjoyed learning about Vancouver’s mining industry and at night she loved hanging out with the other interns.
Aside from work, Kaylee is looking forward to moving to Spain next winter for an exchange in Barcelona.

Dan joined KPMG’s Industrial Markets floor as a summer intern in 2012. During his Audit and Tax rotations, he got great exposure to Vancouver’s junior mining industry. Dan has also taken an active role with both the athletics and community intern committees. In his spare time, Dan loves skiing, mountain-biking, and hiking. He also enjoys travelling and exploring different cultures and cuisines.
Whether it was a social event with other interns, working at a client site, or exploring a new lunch spot - getting to know lots of great people at KPMG was by far Dan’s favorite part of the summer.

Julie started as a co-op student in the audit division of the Industrial Markets group, followed by a rotation in Enterprise. She enjoyed working with a variety of clients and projects. Outside of work, she likes spending time with friends, reading, and traveling. One of her many adventures includes a two-month solo trip traveling around Europe.
Julie’s favourite part of the summer was getting to know the other interns through socials and volunteer events. She especially enjoyed trying out new restaurants downtown each week with them!

This summer, Victoria started in KPMG’s Financial Institutions & Real Estate Services practice, doing rotations in tax and audit. She was able to learn a lot and was so impressed by everyone’s willingness to help. Outside of work, Victoria is an avid skier and will be spending this fall on exchange in Singapore.
Victoria’s favorite parts about her summer were the people she got a chance to meet and the opportunity to learn what KPMG is all about!
Angel Chan

Angel started with KPMG in May as a coop student in the tax rotation on TMT where she learned to fill tax forms and had fun planning a tax party. Her second rotation was in audit on TMT. Outside of work she is very involved with a non-profit organization that encourages youth to start managing their money. She also loves to travel, volunteer, and play table tennis.
Angel’s favourite parts of the summer included meeting all the interns, meeting people around KPMG, going to socials, and trying out new places to eat.

Jenny started with KPMG as a summer intern in mid-May, with her first rotation in Enterprise, working with private clients. Her second rotation was in FIRES Audit with a focus on real estate clients. In her spare time, Jenny enjoys exploring new restaurants, going to the gym, biking, and keeping up-to-date with global news. Jenny is from Macau and lived in South Africa for 10 years, but hopes to make Vancouver her permanent home.
Jenny’s most memorable part of the internship was meeting the most amazing people within the firm and developing invaluable relationships with them.

Phoebe started with KPMG in the middle of May as a co-op student. Her first rotation was with the Enterprise group at the Vancouver office, followed by a rotation in Audit for the Financial Institutions & Real Estate Services group. After her work term at KPMG, Phoebe is going onto a four-month exchange to University of Hong Kong. In her spare time, Phoebe enjoys travelling and has been to every continent except South America, which she plans to visit in 2013.
Phoebe’s favourite part of the summer at KPMG was bonding with all the great interns and taking part in a variety of community and social events.

Allison joined KPMG as a summer intern last May where she worked on audit engagements in the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT) group and within KPMG’s growing sustainability practice. In her second internship, Allison worked two rotations with TMT’s Audit and Tax practice. Her favourite activity this summer was going camping with the intern group and being a part of the firm’s sustainability committee.
Outside of work, Allison enjoys going to concerts and eating out. In September, she will be studying in Austria for a 4 month exchange.

Mandy started with KPMG in mid-May as a summer intern in Audit. She did her audit rotation in TMT (Technology, Media, and Telecommunications). Her second rotation was in Advisory, focusing mainly on Risk and Compliance. Outside of work, she enjoys doing yoga, shopping, and travelling. She will be going on exchange to Seoul National University for Spring 2013!
Mandy’s favourite part of the summer internship getting to know the rest of the interns. All the social events, training and lunches together made her summer extra special. Learning was of course, a fun part of her summer too!

Evan Flater

Evan Flater is entering his fourth year at the Sauder School of Business, were he is participating in the Commerce Scholars Program as a research assistant. He spent his first few years at UBC supporting new students as a residence advisor and a teaching assistant (Financial Accounting). This summer, he was an intern with KPMG, and also completed the BC Ride to Conquer Cancer from Vancouver to Seattle as part of the KPMG – Keep Pedaling More Giving team. During his internship, he worked in Advisory discovering its unique line of business and also worked in the Industrial Markets audit group. Before coming to UBC, Evan was a junior national cyclist, which allowed him a taste for an international career.

Marc’s initial connection with KPMG was established via the Ace the Case competition, in his second year. With the indispensable support of both his team, and the local Vancouver office, he competed locally, nationally, and internationally; culminating his experience at the KPMG International Case Competition, in Istanbul.
Marc started as a summer intern with KPMG the following year: with rotations in Advisory, Transactions and Restructurings; and Audit, FIRES. Outside of work, Marc enjoys Vancouver’s boundless outdoor beauty, contemporary and historic fiction, and assortments of quality cheeses. He has lived in BC, Québec, France, and Bénin; and currently sits as Treasurer of the BC Francophone Youth Council.

Mike Hawes is entering his fourth year at the Sauder School of Business. Before coming to UBC, Mike completed his first two years of post secondary at Capilano University. This summer, he was an intern with KPMG where during his first rotation he worked in Advisory and learned about financial modeling. For his audit rotation, he worked in the Industrial Markets group getting valuable experience in the mining industry. Mike enjoyed participating in the Big Four Ultimate Frisbee tournament and getting to know the other interns. Outside of work Mike enjoys hiking, golfing and power-lifting.

Nabeel started with KPMG in the middle of May as a Co-op student in Industrial Markets Tax. He really enjoyed attending the events for new recruits and summer interns. His second rotation was in Audit. Outside of work he enjoys exercising, cooking, and watching movies. Nabeel has travelled extensively in East Africa and would like to travel around South America next.

Kristen started with KPMG in May 2012 as a summer intern. Her first rotation placed her on Floor 5 in the mysterious service of Indirect Tax. Kristen enjoyed getting to know what Indirect Tax was since she had no idea what it even meant when she started! Her second rotation placed her in Audit with a focus on Technology, Media and Telecommunication clients. Outside of work, Kristen enjoys staying active through yoga, basketball, running and any new exciting workout she can find. She is part of the UBC Women’s Basketball Team.
Kristen’s favorite part of summer was meeting so many talented and amazing people within her intern group who could have fun doing anything together.

David began his internship at KPMG in mid-May in the audit rotation within the FIRES group. Within audit, he had a diverse client mix with a focus on Financial Institutions. In July, David transitioned into his second rotation in Advisory where he was placed in the Transactions and Restructuring Group. When he is not working or studying, he enjoys being actively involved with his school community.
Asides from meeting and bonding with the amazing group of interns, David’s favourite part of summer has been the work-life balance. KPMG’s internship program puts an extra emphasis on the “Work hard, Play hard” attitude as we were not only able to learn a lot about the profession, but also given the opportunity to enjoy our summer in Vancouver.

Vivian started with KPMG in the middle of May as a summer intern. Chris started at KPMG in May as a co-op student doing a rotation in U.S. Tax. He had the opportunity to work with several clients and learn about different cross-border tax issues. He also completed a rotation through audit, working with clients in the industrial markets sector. Outside of work, Chris enjoys playing hockey, tennis and golf with his friends, as well as going skiing in Whistler. In addition to majoring in accounting, Chris is also pursuing a minor in economics.

Giles started his time as an intern working audit in Industrial Markets. He found the clients in this sector fascinating, working on engagements for gold mines and clean energy. Following that, he experienced a rotation in Advisory, where he focused in Transactions & Restructuring. One of his favorite things about being an intern at KPMG was how happy people were to answer the many questions that his work inspired.
Giles is excited about the opportunity to come back full time and start working towards his CA. But, before that, he has three goals he would like to accomplish: drop (and successfully land) the waterfall cliff at Whistler, road trip down the Oregon coast line, and surf Tofino.

This past summer, Jo-Hannah started her summer internship in the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications Audit Group followed by a rotation in KPMG’s Marketing division. She also had several opportunities to work on Special Projects with the Human Resources team. Throughout her internship, Jo-Hannah enjoyed planning socials with her fellow interns, meeting a variety of people, and volunteering with KPMG.
Jo-Hannah truly values time spent with good company. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking trails, playing Ultimate Frisbee with the T-birds, and travelling and learning about different cultures.

Fresh out of third year university, Andrea had the opportunity of joining KPMG’s GVA Marketing team. There, she refined her professional writing skills as the department’s proposals intern, while getting a glimpse into the inner workings of various industry events hosted by the firm. The latter half of her summer was spent in audit among experts in the Technology, Media & Telecommunications team.
Andrea enjoyed every aspect of her summer at KPMG due to the countless remarkable individuals she met throughout her summer term. Highlights from her experience included ultimate practices, community fundraising coordination and socials with fellow interns. When not at work, Andrea can be found on social media as an aspiring blogger, foodie and all-around musical diva.

Ally started with KPMG as a summer co-op in Canadian Corporate Tax. Not only did she get to apply her tax knowledge while completing some T2s, she also got a glimpse of exciting tax planning. She really enjoyed the creative side of tax, seeing the managers develop strategic ways to increase tax savings for their clients. Her second rotation was in Enterprise audit, for which she enjoyed visiting client sites and better understanding their business. Outside of work, she enjoys shopping, travelling, and watching quality movies. She’s looking forward to her upcoming exchange to Milan—the fashion capital of the world.
Through getting to know the interns and other staff around the office, Ally reaffirmed that KPMG is definitely her perfect fit!
