Janine started at KPMG in January of 2012 as a co-op student in the Enterprise group. While on her 8-month work term she was exposed to a variety of different work. Janine worked on small Notice-to-Readers, tax returns, as well as small and large Audits and Reviews. During Janine’s time at KPMG she was able to learn a lot about the many different business units at KPMG. Janine found the tax section most interesting and one day hopes to pursue this interest further. Janine also had the opportunity to participate in the National KPMG Case Competition, her team won regionals and had the exciting opportunity to present to the National Audit Leadership Team (NALT) in advancing to the finals hosted in Calgary. Outside of work Janine is a 4th year University of Alberta student who enjoys travel, cooking, yoga, and personal finance.

This summer, during her final co-op term, Shawna worked in KPMG’s Enterprise practice. This allowed Shawna to work on audits, reviews, and notice to readers for a variety of clients. Shawna has had the opportunity to audit a number of not for profit organizations in the Edmonton area and really enjoyed this type of work. Shawna completed an 8 month co-op term with KPMG Edmonton in 2011. Outside of work, Shawna enjoys traveling, outdoor activities, and reading.
Ben just finished his second co-op with KPMG Edmonton’s Audit practice. As a co-op Ben was provided with the opportunity to work on projects similar to if he had just graduated. This allowed him to develop his business communication skills through his work with his audit team and the client, and learn to work in an audit environment. Ben successfully completed CASB Module #1 during the summer of 2012 while working. Ben enjoys travelling and has had many opportunities to travel internationally and experience many diverse cultures. He also likes biking, boating and spending time with family and friends. On campus Ben is particularly fond of playing squash, so if you see him around see if he is available to play.

Mike is a former Edmonton Eskimo cheerleader and today still enjoys stunting at open gyms. He is also an avid power-lifter and enjoys working out in the Crossfit style. Finally, he is passionate about his community and enjoys volunteering at his Church.
During my first and second co-op terms (January through August 2012), I worked on the Audit side of the Edmonton Office. I was part of the audit teams of a few of our large public clients, and also participated on quarterly reviews. During my term at KPMG, I was fortunate enough to be sent to Phoenix for a week on one of the audits. Another very neat experience was getting to see the Arctic Ocean when I volunteered to do an inventory count in Hope Bay, Nunavut. For the Fall 2012 semester, I will be studying at U of A’s campus in Cortona, Italy and am looking forward to doing a lot of traveling around Europe.
