After completing his third year at Queen’s University, Alex started his first rotation in audit with KPMG in the Energy, Mining and Industrial group. He completed the summer working with the risk advisory group, specifically in IT. While working with KPMG, Alex was a member of the Ultimate Frisbee Team and a member of the Athletic Committee.
When not at work, Alex enjoys playing golf, basketball and going to his cottage. Alex’s favorite part of the summer was being able to work with an interesting and diverse group of interns and associates. He also enjoyed playing in the Ultimate Frisbee tournament and being a member of the KPMG Intern Motionball team.
Cynthia Lee

After finishing her third year at Queen’s School of Business, Cynthia started her first rotation in the Risk Consulting (Forensics) group in May 2012 and subsequently completed her second rotation in financial institutions (FI). During her time at KPMG, Cynthia was a chair of the community leadership committee.
When not at work, Cynthia enjoys spending time with friends and family, painting, playing beach volleyball, and volunteering to help organize Canadian Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Cynthia’s favorite part of the summer was meeting her fellow interns and bonding over weekly social events.

Gillian has just finished her third year at Queen’s University. She spent the winter semester studying abroad at the University of Bath in the UK. Although she started late because of exchange, Gillian spent some time in Global Audit Learning and Development. The second rotation of her internship was done in the consumer markets group.
When not at work, Gillian enjoys spending time with her family and friends, playing sports, and eating good food. She loves finding new restaurants and sharing them with her friends. Gillian’s favorite parts of the summer were learning about a career in auditing and meeting all the other amazing interns.
Charlotte Macdonald

Charlotte is entering her fourth year at Queen’s University in Kingston. Following a semester abroad in Vienna, Austria, Charlotte started at KPMG in July 2012 in the Energy, Mining and Industrials Audit group. Though she is only with the company for a short two months, she has been able to get involved in many different social and athletic events through the firm and the summer internship program.
Outside of the office, Charlotte is a member of the Queen’s varsity figure skating team and is very involved with the Commerce Society on campus. Her favourite part of the summer program at KPMG is the camaraderie within the intern group and tight-knit community within the office walls.

Jennifer is entering her fourth year of the Commerce Program at Queen’s University. After completing a semester studying abroad in London UK, Jennifer began her summer with a rotation working with the Transactions and Restructuring group in Advisory and then finished off the summer in Financial Institutions in the Audit Practice. Originally from Calgary AB, this is her first work term with KPMG and she is excited to spend the summer in Toronto. Outside of work, Jennifer is an avid athlete and sports fan and she has been able to use her passion for sport by being an organizer within the Athletics Committee of the Summer Intern Program.

Meagan started her Summer Internship at KPMG after returning from exchange in the UK and completing her third year in the Commerce program at Queen’s University. She began her internship in the National Assurance Professional Practice and ended in audit with the Technology, Media and Telecommunications group.
Outside of work, you can find Meagan hanging out with friends and family, going to concerts, and soaking up the sun. Meagan’s favorite part of the summer was meeting all of the interns and all of the fun events they had planned.

May 2012 marks Candace’s first year as an intern here at KPMG. With rotations within the Consumer Market group as well as the National Sales and Marketing Team, Candace has also gotten involved with various KPMG charities, the Athletic Committee and of course the Ultimate Frisbee Team.
As a Queen’s Commerce student going into her fourth year, Candace had spent her last semester abroad in Singapore. Although she is missing the opportunity to travel the globe, she is enjoying the ability to experience Toronto as she is originally from the great city of Ottawa. When Candace isn’t in the office you can find her running or rollerblading along the waterfront trail as well as catching up with old friends. Her favorite part of her internship experience was having the chance to work and learn form a number of different associates in the office as well as enjoying time off with her fellow interns.
David Wood

David Wood is entering his fourth year of studies at the Queen’s School of Business in Kingston, Ontario. Having spent a summer with KPMG working with the Energy Mining and Industrial Markets (EMI) Audit Group, as well as the U.S. Corporate Tax practice, he is keen to continue his work with KPMG in the summer of 2012. This summer David will be working with the Advisory: Transactions & Restructuring and EMI Audit groups; he is excited to expand his professional experiences. David is also the Chair of the Summer Intern’s Social Committee.
Over the past year, David had the opportunity to participate in a Student Exchange Program to Belgium where he studied Management at the Université Catholique de Louvain. He hopes to continue his travels next summer back to Europe and beyond! When David isn’t tying in financial statements or reviewing invoices, he loves to travel, meet new people and has a love-hate relationship with jogging.

Michelle began with KPMG in the Audit practice in May 2012 as a summer intern in the Kingston office. She had the opportunity to explore a variety of challenging engagements throughout the summer and gain some great experience!
Michelle’s favourite part of the summer was getting to know her co-workers in a professional environment as well as at various social events, and participating in the Easter Seals Fundraiser.

Brad started with KPMG in the beginning of May as a summer intern in Auditing. He really enjoyed working with clients and meeting new people. Outside of work he enjoys travelling, going to his cottage, and playing sports; particularly hockey and golf. Brad looks forward to travelling during his upcoming 5-month exchange in the Netherlands.
Brad’s favourite part of the summer was getting out of the office and learning about businesses in the area, as well as getting to know his coworkers by participating in the many socials, trainings, and other work events.

After completing her second year at Queen’s Commerce, Roslyn started her summer internship at KPMG in April 2012. Throughout the summer, Roslyn worked on audits for a variety of clients in the Ottawa region including colleges and universities, government entities, and other not-for-profits. She also enjoyed participating in summer intern training, attending audit socials, and meeting a number of great people at the firm. Highlights of the summer included completing a small audit file on her own and participating in a summer intern challenge where she examined and reported on employee retention at KPMG.
Outside of work, Roslyn is passionate about fitness and enjoys running long distances and attending hot yoga classes. She also enjoys golf, spending time at cottages, and seeing family and friends. At Queen’s, Roslyn is heavily involved in the Commerce Society, playing roles on the Queen’s Accounting Association, Queen’s Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship, and the Exchange and Transfer Committee. Next school year, she is spending a semester abroad on exchange in Milan, Italy, where she will enjoy amazing fashion, great Italian cuisine, and remarkable travel opportunities.

Rosemarie will be working in Audit in the Calgary office this summer. KPMG is the perfect opportunity for her to grow as a professional because it provides a balanced introduction to the accounting and business world. Rosemarie is looking forward to working with Oil & Gas companies throughout the summer. Outside of work, Rosemarie enjoys to go hiking, camping, fishing, and boating. She is also training towards running a 10 km race later this summer.

This summer, Ashton will be working in the Audit group, as well as completing three week rotations in both the Enterprise and Advisory. KPMG allows Ashton to grow as a professional by allowing her to gain exposure to the professional services field and the different client services that KPMG offers. Ashton will be graduating with a Bachelor's of Commerce degree from Queen's University in 2014 at which time she will pursue her CA designation. Outside of work, Ashton enjoys rock climbing, reading, and travelling and will be studying abroad in Hong Kong in January 2013.

Alison started her summer at KPMG with a rotation in the FIRES Audit Department. She enjoyed getting a hands-on feel for an audit as well as other procedures that the audit department completes for clients. Her second rotation in the summer was in Indirect Tax. Alison enjoys anything outdoors! She spent the summer getting outside as much as possible – hiking, camping, and enjoying the sun.
Alison has been on the Junior Varsity Women’s Rowing Team at Queen’s and is looking forward to her exchange in Copenhagen, Denmark for the Winter Semester of 2013.
A highlight of Alison’s summer was meeting everyone and hearing about their experiences at KPMG as well as getting to know the other interns through many social events.
