Criteria For Education Giving

Funding Application

All requests for education grants must be accompanied by a written grant request prepared by the post-secondary education institution seeking the grant in a form and content acceptable to the Foundation. The request must include, as a minimum, the following information:

  • Background information on the post-secondary educational institution
  • Description of the fund raising campaign and current status
  • Amount of funding requested and funding options
  • Detailed description of proposed use of funds
  • Proposed accountabilities of the institution to KPMG for funding granted
  • Rationale for and benefits to KPMG for funding
  • Listing of previous grant(s) from the Foundation and/or KPMG.

All written grant requests should be mailed, along with the completed Education Grant Request Form, to the attention of:

Secretary, The KPMG Foundation
Suite 3300
Commerce Court West
P.O. Box 31,
Stn Commerce Court
Toronto, Ontario
M5L 1B2

Generally, the Foundation will respond in writing with its decision regarding the grant request within two months of its receipt of the initial written request.

Funding Criteria

The Board considers several criteria in its evaluation of each grant request including, but not limited to:

  • The alignment of the grant request with the goals of the post-secondary education institution
  • Alignment with KPMG's recruiting strategy
  • Extent of post-secondary education institution's commitment to and/or promotion of the CA program, academic research in support of the CA profession and other KPMG industry-related initiatives
  • Ratings of the post-secondary education institution against independent external benchmarks
  • Alignment with strategic initiatives of KPMG and the Foundation
  • Quality of initial application.

Funding Approval

The Board assesses the merits of a post-secondary education institution’s grant request against the Foundation’s funding criteria and determines whether to approve the grant request and, if so, the related amount and the terms.

Final approval of a grant request requires an affirmative vote of at least 75 per cent of the Board members and is subject to terms and conditions mutually acceptable to the KPMG Foundation and the post-secondary education institution to be confirmed in a signed funding agreement between both parties.
